Turning a long skirt into a crossover bag.
Find a long, ugly unwanted skirt.
Cut the bottom half to make straps for it. Turn it inside out and secure the edges to sew them together.
Lay the long, bottom strip on the floor or a flat surface.
Fold it in half and cut it long ways.
Fold them long ways, but inside out.
Sew along the open edges.
I used a straight stitch.
Now, on the flat part, I added a corner stitch to make the bottom of the bag a bit more square.
Next, cut off the corner.
And also stitched a seem to give it some definition.
Sew edge to edge horizontally and vertically across the bottom while it’s still inside out.
This is what it looks like after it’s right side out.
Now, to put the straps on.
After sewing the opening edge while it’s inside out, and then putting them right side out, I gave it another stitch on both sides to keep the edges flat.
Cut the straps to the desired length.
Mock the location of the straps and clip them in place.
Sew them securely.
What do you think?
I think it was an ugly, unwanted skirt and now it’s sort of an ugly unwanted bag 😂
But, I might have found a use for it...
